Overview
Turning industrial machinery data into insights for predictive maintenance
A global manufacturer of drive and industrial automation technology was looking to evolve how its customers monitor and maintain critical components across their operations.
Its industrial devices are equipped with sensors that continuously collect physical parameters such as vibration, oil level and temperature, ambient temperature, and input speed.
Working alongside their teams, we collaborated on the development of an IoT platform that transforms this data into actionable information to monitor device conditions, identify abnormal behavior, and support maintenance decisions before failures impact operations.
The result is a digital experience that connects machinery, data, and maintenance, helping industrial teams move from reacting to failures toward anticipating them.
The Challenge
Detecting signals before they become problems
In industrial operations, an unexpected component failure can affect equipment availability and disrupt production.
At the same time, machinery continuously generates data that can help identify changes in operating conditions before they develop into larger issues.
The challenge was to transform large volumes of sensor data into an experience that allowed users to easily understand the condition of their devices and identify potential anomalies.
The solution needed to connect the complete flow of information. Sensors collect physical parameters from industrial devices, an edge processing unit receives that data and sends it to the cloud, where it can be processed and consumed by the application.
But making the data available was only part of the challenge. It also needed to be transformed into visualizations, events, and alerts that could support maintenance decisions.
The Solution
An IoT platform to monitor, analyze, and act
Working alongside the client’s team, we helped build a digital experience that transforms data generated by industrial machinery into actionable information.
Through the application, users can access their devices and visualize relevant parameters to understand their condition and behavior.
Device monitoring
The platform provides visibility into equipment status and sensor data, including oil level and temperature, vibration, ambient temperature, and input speed.
Dashboards and data visualization
Users can analyze information through dashboards, reports, and charts based on specific parameters.
Rules and alerts
A rules engine allows users to define conditions and thresholds for monitored parameters. When those conditions are met, the platform can generate events and notifications via email or within the application.
Predictive maintenance insights
Continuous monitoring helps identify trends and changes in device behavior, providing information that supports predictive maintenance decisions.
Integrated support
The experience also includes support capabilities as part of the digital ecosystem.
By connecting physical industrial devices with a digital layer, the platform makes their data available for monitoring, visualization, and maintenance decision-making.
Key Impact
From reactive maintenance to data-driven decisions
The platform uses continuously generated device data to provide greater visibility into equipment condition and help anticipate situations that could affect operations.
Prevent unplanned downtime
Early identification of critical changes or abnormal behavior helps teams act before certain issues result in production interruptions.
Reduce maintenance costs
Condition monitoring helps teams make maintenance decisions based on information about how equipment is actually performing.
More precise fault identification
The combination of sensors, continuous monitoring, visualizations, and alerts provides greater context to identify anomalies and understand equipment behavior.
Automated detection of critical conditions
Configurable rules and thresholds transform device parameters into events and alerts, helping teams identify when a condition requires attention.
Greater visibility into machinery condition
Dashboards, charts, and reports turn sensor data into information users can access and analyze to support maintenance decisions.
