A Smarter Way to Manage Chronic Conditions in Children

A Smarter Way to Manage Chronic Conditions in Children

Harvey

Overview

An intelligent assistant for families managing chronic pediatric conditions

With a mission to reduce the mental load on families caring for children with chronic illnesses, Harvey was built as an intelligent assistant that transforms how families manage care.

The Challenge

Reducing emotional and cognitive overload in daily care routines

Families navigating a child’s chronic condition often leave doctor visits overwhelmed—trying to remember every instruction, every dosage, and every next step. This cognitive overload often results in missed follow-ups, medication errors, or inconsistent care. Harvey needed to be more than an app—it had to be a dependable companion that simplified complex routines and made families feel supported 24/7.

I’m a pediatric nurse, and even with years inside the healthcare system, I felt completely lost when my 5-year-old was diagnosed with autism and developmental delay.

The emotional toll is real — especially in those first steps, when you don’t know where to start and you feel truly alone. If that was my experience, I can’t imagine how hard it is for parents without medical training.

Our Solution

Care-Driven Design, Built to Support

In response to this challenge, we developed a mobile-first experience that prioritizes trust, clear communication, and intuitive design—enabling families to:

  • Record medical visits in real time.

  • Get automatic, doctor-ready notes.

  • Set personalized reminders based on visit context.

  • Ask follow-up questions like “What did the doctor say about the new inhaler?”

  • Share care info with family members or teachers—securely.

  • Wrapped in a friendly, calming interface, Harvey combines natural language tech with thoughtful UX to deliver support when families need it most.

The project scope encompassed an end-to-end product strategy, UX/UI design, and the development of an intuitive and functional mobile app. It also included the development of an AI-powered assistant prototype to validate key features, along with a robust backend architecture designed to enable scalability and future integrations.

Helping families shift from chaos to clarity with every appointment.

The MVP prototype was submitted to Harvard Innovation Lab, healthcare hackathons, and early-stage investors—garnering strong validation and interest. Harvey now stands as a promising solution in the pediatric health space.
