Gamifying Healthy Habits for Students
Gamifying Healthy Habits for Students

Overview
How do you get kids moving in a world where screens dominate attention?
In response to a growing concern about youth inactivity and health issues, the Dubai Health Authority engaged in an ideation session to explore solutions that could encourage healthier lifestyles in schools. What followed was a collaborative effort to create a gamified health platform that empowers students while engaging schools and PE teachers as key partners.
The concept emerged during a strategic workshop with the Dubai Health Authority, focused on tackling sedentarism and poor nutrition among school-aged children. The solution had to be engaging, scalable, and educational—without feeling like homework. From that challenge, a student-centered health app was born.

The app rewards students for completing wellness challenges such as:
Participating in physical education class activities
Running or walking set distances
Eating a healthy breakfast
Logging daily health habits
Points, badges, and leaderboards make progress visible and fun, while a clean, colorful UI keeps navigation intuitive and motivating.

Powered by students, backed by teachers and schools
Working with this tool, teachers can create custom challenges, track class engagement, and foster healthy competition between groups—making wellness a collective goal instead of a personal task.

While the app remains at concept stage, the project delivered a fully realized, strategy-backed design—ready to inform future health and education initiatives across the region.
