Building End-to-End Traceability for Sustainable Agriculture
Building End-to-End Traceability for Sustainable Agriculture

Overview
Innovation and Sustainability from Field to Port
In a global context where sustainability is no longer optional but mandatory, a leading Argentine agribusiness company —specialized in grains and oilseeds— faced a new challenge: complying with the European regulation banning imports of products from deforested areas after December 31, 2020.
The company needed a system that would not only certify compliance but also provide full traceability and transparency for its international clients, from the origin field to the shipment port. Partnering with Santex, the project became an urgent and strategic initiative combining technology, business understanding, and a deep commitment to sustainability.
The Challenge
Proving Sustainability Through Data
The new EU regulation required companies to provide deforestation-free certification and verifiable geolocation data.
The challenge was to integrate information from multiple sources —fields, silos, plants, and ports— into a single, reliable, and auditable platform capable of meeting the strict demands of European buyers.
With a three-month delivery window, the system needed to be robust, compliant, and scalable from day one.
The Solution
A Digital Ecosystem for Sustainable Traceability
Working under a Dual Track approach, the Santex team combined agile development with UX/UI design to deliver faster, validated results.
The solution was a georeferenced platform enabling reverse tracking of every shipment —from the port back to the field— while visualizing the evolution of each lot and its transformation history.
Key features included:
Interactive mapping to identify and compare source fields.
Track & Trace module ensuring end-to-end product traceability.
Secure user and customer management, with auditable access control.
Automated reporting for compliance with EU deforestation regulations.
This platform turned sustainability into a strategic business advantage, enhancing trust and transparency in global markets.
Key Outcomes
Turning Compliance into Competitive Value
EU regulation compliance has been successfully achieved and is verifiable.
100 % digital traceability from shipment to source fields.
Reduced operational effort through automation and centralized control.
Enhanced transparency and brand reputation in international markets.
Delivered in just 3 months, from concept to production with a validated MVP.
